Record this tab (Pro)
Record what plays in the tab.
For the player nothing can fetch: Grablet records the tab, picture and sound, and saves it like any other file.
Some players hide their video so well that no downloader can find a file or a stream. Record this tab is the fallback. Press ⏺ in Grablet, play the video, and what plays in the tab is recorded until you press ■. The recording lands in your Downloads folder.
Free and unlimited. No account, no tracking, no watermarks.
Your browser will ask for access to websites. That is how Grablet sees media on the page you are on. Nothing is ever sent to us. Why it needs that
On Android, install Grablet in Firefox for Android. Also available on desktop Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Grablet is not available in Chrome for Android or Firefox on iOS.
How to record a tab
- Open the page in Chrome or Edge and get the video ready.
- Open Grablet from the toolbar and press ⏺, Record this tab.
- Play what you want to keep. The tab stays audible while it records.
- Press ■ to stop. Grablet saves the recording to your Downloads folder, named after the page with “(recording)” added.
Keep the tab open until you have pressed ■.
What you get
- Picture and sound, as a WebM video (VP9 or VP8, with Opus sound) at about 4 Mbps, which VLC, mpv, every modern browser and most editors open.
- Written to your browser’s private storage a second at a time as it records, so a long recording does not fill memory. No length limit is set.
- Recorded inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Try a normal save first. If Grablet lists the video or the stream, saving it gives you the original file at full quality. Recording is for when it cannot.
Where it works
Record this tab is part of Grablet Pro, in Chrome and Edge. Firefox does not give extensions the tab capture it needs, so the button does not appear there. Every new install starts with a free Pro trial, so you can try it first.
What it won’t record
- YouTube and DRM-protected services such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and Spotify. The button is hidden there, and a recording is refused: they are excluded by design, and no setting unlocks them.
- DRM-protected video on any other site comes out black. The browser itself keeps protected video out of a capture.
Questions
Is it a screen recorder?
No. It records one browser tab, its picture and its sound. Not your screen, other windows or your microphone.
Why WebM and not MP4?
WebM is what the browser’s own recorder produces, so nothing has to be converted afterwards. VLC, mpv, every modern browser and most video editors play it.
Do I need Grablet Pro?
Yes. Every new install starts with a free Pro trial, 90 days for installs before 9 March 2027, so you can try it first.
Does it work in Firefox?
No. Firefox does not let extensions capture a tab, so Record this tab is available in Chrome and Edge only.
