Save Instagram reels and photos. From the post you’re looking at.
Reels, posts and carousels, straight from Instagram to your Downloads folder.
Grablet is a browser extension. Open a reel or a post on instagram.com, and a Save button appears on it. The file goes to your Downloads folder, straight from Instagram to you.
Free and unlimited. No account, no tracking, no watermarks.
Your browser will ask for access to websites. That is how Grablet sees media on the page you are on. Nothing is ever sent to us. Why it needs that
On Android, install Grablet in Firefox for Android. Also available on desktop Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Grablet is not available in Chrome for Android or Firefox on iOS.
How to save a video from Instagram
- Install Grablet from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons or Firefox Add-ons. There is no sign-up.
- Open the post on Instagram as you normally would, and play the video for a moment.
- Click Save, on the post itself or in the Grablet popup, where everything on the page is listed by type and quality, best first.
The file lands in your Downloads folder, filed under the site’s name.
What it saves
- Reels, saved as MP4 at the best quality Instagram served your browser.
- Video posts, and every video or photo in a carousel.
- Photos at full resolution, not the compressed preview.
- Posts from accounts you follow. Grablet works in your own session, on what your browser has already loaded. It never reaches anything you could not see yourself.
What it won’t save
- Reels or posts you have not scrolled to yet. Instagram loads them as you go, and so does Grablet.
- Anything from an account you do not have access to.
- Bulk download of a whole profile. That is deliberate. It is the behaviour that gets accounts banned and extensions removed from the store, and Grablet is built to be safe to keep installed.
And, as everywhere: not YouTube, and nothing DRM-protected. Store policy in the first case, the law in the second. No setting unlocks either.
Questions
Is there a watermark?
No. The file is saved exactly as Instagram served it.
Does saving make any extra request to Instagram?
Saving fetches the file from Instagram’s own servers, the same place your browser already got it from. Nothing goes anywhere else.
Can it download a whole profile?
No. Tools that scrape whole profiles get their users banned and get removed from the store. Grablet saves what the page in front of you has loaded, and can save all of that at once, but it never walks a profile on its own. That is on purpose.
Can I save a reel’s audio on its own?
Yes. The sound-only button saves it as an MP3, free, with no length limit from version 0.1.0.602 (earlier versions stop at twenty minutes). With Grablet Pro it can be the original .m4a instead, exactly as Instagram served it, with no re-encoding. Where a video exists only as a stream, sound-only is a Pro feature.
Private by construction
What you save never passes through us. Grablet finds the media, assembles a stream and saves the file inside your browser, needs no account, and never uploads anything. Its one server issues Pro licence keys and never learns what you save. The privacy policy is short because there is little to say.
Please only save content you have the right to keep, and respect the people who made it.
